Destination London 2012

Obviously, the Olympics are a celebration of sportsmanship games, and human achievement of the international community, they also represent an opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of organization and the vision of the host nation. London's Olympic Committee have recently revealed their plans to make London 2012 sustainable. It hopes to establish new standards for the next Olympics events.

Given the increasing concerns of human impact on our fragile planet, London puts sustainability at the core of its Olympic projects. Throughout postpone process, the committee in London has pushed its concept of "One Planet Olympics" - an idea from the WWF / Bioregional mandate of "One Planet Living".

As the Olympic Games are the biggest event in the world, the London Games will give an opportunity to demonstrate how we can change the way we build, work and travel in order to adapt to the available resources. Indeed, if all of the world's population have to live the same lifestyle that the people of the United Kingdom, we need you planets' worth of natural resources, to help us.

The 2012 sustainable policy lights its green flame in a number of ways; from the ground up, minimisation of greenhouse gas emissions and also create facilities that are able to cope with effects of climate change. There will also be a commitment to minimize construction waste, and planners have announced that none of the waste generated during the Games will go to the landfill, there will be on-site recycling and reuse of waste.

The other big advantage is that the organizers is to push economic development, the Olympics will have an enormous positive impact on the Lea Valley, stimulating the regeneration of the East End, as well as providing income for hotels in massive London and the United Kingdom as a tourism industry Ensemble.

While the 2012 Games will be as green as the Olympics committee proposes is still to be seen, but if they can draw their ambitious plans, respecting the environment, the impact is likely to have an enormous positive impact not only on future games, but the Western world in general.
